It is long overdue: we will be updating our hosting platform with newer, more stable, and more secure software. You are receiving this notice because we’re concerned that updates to your website code will be required to continue functioning.

What does this mean for you?

For the vast majority of websites, this change is manageable. The applications behind modern websites such as WordPress, and its network of plugins, have been updated to work well with the latest versions of PHP. They’re ready to go.

Why is this happening?

This is an important upgrade to improve security for our entire hosting platform. Removing unsupported and insecure versions of software is essential.

The PHP Group declared PHP 5.6 as an unsupported branch as of December 2018 and PHP 7.0 and PHP 7.2 will soon follow. Net Essence has continued to support customers who built on these versions for convenience, but it is no longer viable.

What are your options?

If you are certain all aspects of your website are up to date there is nothing you need to do.
